{"id":47485,"date":"2021-06-30T08:52:29","date_gmt":"2021-06-30T06:52:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.leibniz-bildung.de\/?post_type=netzwerke&#038;p=47485"},"modified":"2026-05-22T12:51:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T10:51:18","slug":"main-network","status":"publish","type":"netzwerke","link":"https:\/\/www.leibniz-bildung.de\/en\/about-us\/networks\/main-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Main-Network"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MAIN Network is a worldwide network of linguists and practitioners who work with the <em>Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives<\/em> (MAIN), develop new language versions and digital materials, and conduct projects and studies with MAIN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MAIN network has over 9500 members (as of January 2026) in more than 70 countries and is coordinated at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leibniz-bildung.de\/en\/about-us\/network-partners\/zas\/\">ZAS<\/a>. Regular online meetings (Text &amp; Tea with MAIN) are held, providing a platform for exchange of experiences and scientific presentations. The <a href=\"https:\/\/main.leibniz-zas.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MAIN website<\/a> and newsletter provide information on new developments, plans and news about MAIN. A MAIN app is in the process of development. The MAIN community is growing rapidly and is very active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"test-instrument\">Test instrument<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MAIN (Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives) is a theory-based instrument investigating narrative skills in children, who acquire one or more languages from birth or from an early age. Adolescents and adults with typical development and neurodiverse development have also been assessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The instrument was developed as part of the LITMUS battery of tests (within the framework of COST Action IS0804 LITMUS: Language Impairment in a Multilingual Society: Linguistic Patterns and the Road to Assessment). Currently, there are over 100 language versions in use in more than 60 countries. MAIN contains four parallel stories, each with a theory-driven and carefully designed six-image sequence based on a multidimensional model of story organization, and 10 comprehension questions for each story.
