It also offers attractive opportunities for staff to learn and assume responsibility in the non-research departments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"target-group\">Target Group<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctoral students in economics <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"objectives\">Objectives<strong> <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its academic economic research, the Ifo Institute is deeply committed to training highly qualified junior researchers. It works closely with the University of Munich (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lmu.de\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LMU<\/a>) in the field of doctoral level training. The supervisors of the doctorates are department heads at an ifo center, who are also professors at the Faculty of Economics of the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich. Doctoral students benefit twice: they attend the courses of the Graduate Program at the Munich Graduate School of Economics (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"MGSE (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mgse.econ.uni-muenchen.de\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">MGSE<\/a>) and take part in the regular lunchtime seminars of the Center for Economic Studies (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"CES (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.en.ces.econ.uni-muenchen.de\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">CES<\/a>) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leibniz-bildung.de\/en\/partner\/ifo-institut\/\">ifo Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"activities\">Activities<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The ifo Institute specifically promotes the development of \neconometric fundamentals among its doctoral students. They attend \ncourses on this topic at the university and make use of special \ncontinuing education courses offered by the ifo Institute, which also \ninclude intensive seminars with internationally recognized \neconometricians.<\/li><li>Doctoral students are allowed to present their research results \ninternationally. Under the guidance of experienced scientists of the \nCESifo Group, they apply for lectures at international scientific \nconferences and achieve successful publications in recognized \npeer-reviewed journals.<\/li><li>The ifo Institute involves doctoral students in empirical economic \nresearch projects at an early stage.
