Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus Tübingen

Cognitive Interfaces

The Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus Tübingen “Cognitive Interfaces” is an interdisciplinary research network. The overall goal has been to create a more closely knit and strategically widespread network, to further develop digital media research in Tübingen and to strengthen the scientific environment for this thematic field.

Target Group

Scientists from psychology, sociology, educational science, computer science, media science, sports science, didactics and medicine

Objectives

The fundamental idea of the Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus, to link research in and outside the university more strongly, is based on an initiative by the Leibniz Association. To achieve this, the Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus is structured as a joint research association of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) and the University of Tübingen. The goal is to foster an exchange of scientific excellence among Leibniz institutions and universities through reciprocal regional partnerships. The network is meant to pool elements of excellence, to do strategic research, to foster interdisciplinary choices of topics, projects and methods, to increase the visibility of the campus location and increase its research profile. The Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus is invested in sustainability: research training groups, graduate schools, special research fields and clusters of excellence can emerge here.

Theme Focus

About 40 scientists conduct research on the Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus “Cognitive Interfaces“ (WCT). They investigate how information is digitally treated and which forms of interaction can be made available to support knowledge-intensive tasks such as learning, solving problems, or supporting decision-making.

The Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus pools the expertise of a variety of disciplines and the know-how of scientists in the fields of psychology, informatics, biology didactics, dentistry, medicine, educational science, media science and sports science.
